Yvonne Gunderson

Yvonne Gunderson, 77, formerly of Hoffman, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the Barrett Care Center, surrounded by her family. She was born November 28, 1936, in rural Kensington to Martin and Olga (Lindberg) Johnson. Yvonne attended Oscar Lake Church, grew up attending Holmes City country school and Alexandria public school. On August 15, 1953, Yvonne married Roger "Bud" Gunderson, and the couple spent 60 years together, mostly residing in Hoffman. Bud and Yvonne raised four children, Audree, Gwen, Mike and Mark. Yvonne owned and operated the Von-Ettes store in Hoffman and together she and Bud also operated Gundys, specializing in arts and crafts, and traveled across Minnesota selling their own handmade crafts. Yvonne enjoyed golfing, old time polka dancing, her trips to Florida and Montana, and her Caribbean cruise. Yvonne enjoyed redecorating her home and especially preparing for Christmas. She was a fan of her scratch-off tickets and always enjoyed her trips to the nearest casino. She was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Olga Johnson, and two brothers, Delmore and Floyd Johnson Yvonne is survived by her husband Bud Gunderson of Hoffman; daughters Audree (Larry) Hanson of Litchfield and Gwen (Ed) Briesemeister of Delano; sons Mike (Jane Fenton) Gunderson of Northfield and Mark (Karen Spirov) Gunderson of Minneapolis; ten grandchildren, Erik (Melissa), LeAnn (Cory), Lezley, Ty, Ashlee (Mike), Tiffany (Jon), Thomas, Allison, Marcus and Courtney; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mae McClure of Luverne; and many extended family members and friends. Memorials to the family are preferred in lieu of flowers.
