Sylvia Volker

Sylvia Volker, age 82 of Herman died Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Barrett Care Center. There will be a private family Celebration of Life. Sylvia Mae Volker was born on August 5, 1932 in Grant County to Frank and Beatrice (Richards) Freeman. She attended school in Herman, MN. On November 20, 1947 she married Willard (Buff) Volker in Sisseton, SD. They lived on a farm east of Herman and raised four children. In September 1987 Buff retired and they moved to Elbow Lake, MN. Sylvia lived there until Buff died in 2007, when she moved home to Herman. Sylvia enjoyed watching TV, reading, puzzles, and seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sylvia is survived by her children Marsha Kellen of Wheaton, Alan of Hoffman, daughter-in-law, Roberta Volker, and her brother William Freeman of Hixton, TN; grandchildren, Ryan and Tanya Kellen, Jadyn and Avery; Scott and Kami Matteson, Bree, Braxton and Sage of Mankato; Matthew and Kerstin Volker, Allissa, Haley and Logan; Christopher and Christina Volker, Patrick and Abigail; Rachel Winther, Jacob and Chloe; Brock Volker and Isaac. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willard in 2007; two sons, Arnold in 2012 and Willis in 2014; and two brothers, Lawrence Freeman and Frances Freeman.
