In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Grant County Humane Society.
Susan Adlyn was born on August 7, 1952, in Thief River Falls to Emil and Vivian (Nelson) Dahl and two years later Sue was welcomed by a baby brother James, A.K.A. Elmer. She spent her early years living on the Salol, MN farm. Sue lost her parents at an early age, and eventually lived with her foster family in Willmar, Minnesota, graduating from Willmar High School in 1970.
After earning her degree in cosmetology at Fergus Falls Community College, she opened up her shop Hair Design in Hoffman where she had a thriving business for twenty-five years. She was one to give out good advice to her many customers, free of charge of course. It was there that she met her life partner Scott, and faithfully cut his hair for almost fifty years.
On October 30, 1982, Scott and Sue were married. They farmed in Douglas County for years, milking cows and growing crops on the shores of Red Rock Lake. As if her shop and farming was not enough, she decided to start buying rental properties in Hoffman. She would buy them, and Scott would fix them up. She became close friends with many renters over the years and showed compassion for those who had family issues.
In 2014, they moved to the farm in Elk Lake Township where she loved working in her flower gardens. But most of all, starting in the early 2000’s, she loved raising her Labrador puppies and dogs, with many finding homes in the area. Sue was a lover of all things four-legged. She was active in the Messiah Women’s group as they organized dinners, benefits and other celebrations. She served as an EMT on the Hoffman ambulance service for many years.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, brother Elmer Dahl in 2014, grandparents, foster parents, aunts, uncles, father-in-law Richard Blehr, along with all of her four-legged babies, Morgon, Deek, Jade, Klohe and Gracie.
She is survived by her loving husband Scott, mother-in-law Carol Keller, sister-in-law Shelley Dahl, niece Rachel (Andy) Przekwas, brother-in-law Todd (Joan) Blehr, niece Kristina, nephew Cody, many cousins, and her two labs, Baily and Kylie.
Anyone who knew Sue was aware of her fierce love for animals, especially dogs and cats.
