Shirley Evelyn Olson

Shirley Evelyn Olson, age 75, passed away on June 19, 2023. She was born in Morris, MN on April 23, 1948, to Walter and Clara Fleischfresser. Shirley attended Barrett High School and was a proud graduate.

Shirley was married to Gary Olson on October 30, 1971, in Sisseton, South Dakota after dating for only two weeks. They were married for many wonderful years before Gary's passing in 2010.

Shirley was an active member of United Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake. She enjoyed visiting and spending time with her friends at the Knotty Pine. She particularly enjoyed collecting oil lamps, and pictures and statues of chickens. She enjoyed baking caramel rolls and delicious homemade bread. Her doors were always open to share a cup of coffee along with a fresh baked caramel roll, and a visit.

In addition to her husband Gary Warren Olson, who passed away before her, Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Clara Fleischfresser; her brothers Ray, Jim, and Duane; and sister Linda Beckman; brother-in-law ElRoy Pieske, and sister-in-law Joyce Fleischfresser. She is survived by her three daughters: Dawn (Rod) Bumgardner, Carrie Olson, and Wendi Gill; her son Joshua (JoDee) Olson; sisters Arlene Pieske, Vi Norman, and Betty Fleischfresser; sister-in-law Barb Fleischfresser; nine grandchildren: Vessa Bumgardner, Demara Bumgardner, Emelya Hanson, Bryce Hanson, Perry Gill, Eva Gill, Steiger Olson, Austin Olson, Nevaeh Olson; great-grandchild, Shaelynn Gill; as well as nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday June 27th at the United Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake from 10 AM to 11 AM with a Memorial Service to follow at 11 AM. Shirley will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched throughout the years.
