Rebecca (Becky) Ann Peterson died peacefully surrounded by family on April 13th, 2025, at the Evansville Care Campus, at the age of 76.
She was born in Denver, CO to the parents of Melvin and Grace (Thompson) Hasse on November 21, 1948. She was the 1st of 5 children. Becky attended a couple of small town elementary schools in the New Ulm area. Becky was very outgoing and had four boyfriends by her second day of kindergarten. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1966. She spent most of her time as a homemaker, but also worked as a CNA at a few different facilities after her kids were mostly grown. Becky also earned an Associates Degree Cosmetology at M State, Wadena Campus.
Becky married Alan Peterson on November 16, 1968. Together they had six daughters and one son. Over the years they lived on a farm just outside of Farwell, MN, then near Alexandria, and eventually moved to house in Farwell. In October of 1989, Becky found the courage to make a new life for herself and her children and moved to Elbow Lake, leaving behind a tumultuous relationship and dangerous living situation. Life was tough at times, but she was strong and had unwavering faith in God. She was always involved in church and loved attending Bible studies.
Some of Becky’s passions were planting flowers, along with feeding and watching birds. She loved playing games, mostly card games, especially Hand and Foot. She enjoyed being creative, drawing, coloring and painting. Becky loved cooking and baking for her family and friends, serving those she cherished. She made cookies every year for Christmas, which usually ended up being about 1,200 cookies. Yum! Of all the things Becky adored here on earth, her grandchildren were at the top of the list. She loved them all so very much and continually prayed for each of them. Ultimately, Becky’s heart and life belonged to Jesus.
Becky is survived by her children; Kimi Quirt, Kari Peterson (Brad), Kandi Gilbert (Mike), Katie Swanson (Shane), Kendra Peterson (Aaron), Kayle, and Danielle Paulson (Blake). Her beloved grandchildren: Jordan (Sebastian), Nicholas, Chey (Cody), Aydan, Dayle, Tayler, Rylie, Julian, Kherington, Kyiah, Parker, Emmett, Arthur, Melvin, Piper, Viktor, and Skyler. Her sister, Carmen (Denny), Terry (Robert), and Gwen. Nieces and Nephews; Lonny, Lotty, Luey, Penny, Sonny, Jimmy and Andrew, along with many great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Karleen Fodstad, parents Melvin and Grace Hasse, grandparents, Martin and Elsie (Schmidt) Hasse, and William and Ethel (Addison) Thompson, and sister, Penny (Hasse) Schugel.
