Michelle John

Michelle May John of Elbow Lake passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Prairie Ridge Hospital in Elbow Lake, MN at the age of 44 years. Michelle was born to Timothy and Barbara Gaffney on September 15, 1971 in Minneapolis, MN. She attended Cooper High School in Robinsdale, MN. On April 28, 1993 she was united in marriage to David P. John in Minneapolis. She has lived in New Hope, MN, Minneapolis, MN, and in different places throughout the metro area. In 1997, she and David moved north to Alexandria, finally making their home in Elbow Lake in 2003 until the present.

Michelle loved fishing, and being outdoors when her health permitted her to. She cherished being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She found happiness in her two dogs, and found great strength in reading her Bible. Her health started to decline in 1997. She spent 18 years undergoing dialysis. Michelle is survived by her husband, David P. John of Elbow Lake; daughters, Jessie John (Justin Hammer) of Erdahl, and Lisa John of Alexandria; grandchildren, Hailey John and Jace Hammer, and a baby girl on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents, Timothy and Barbara. Michelle was a faithful wife, mother and grandmother and will be solely missed by all who loved her. There will be a private family gathering in remembrance of Michelle. Burial at Ness Cemetery, Elbow Lake. Erickson-Smith Funeral Home of Elbow Lake is assisting the family.
