Marilyn Ricks, 88 of Elbow Lake, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Maplewood Manor.
Marilyn Ricks was born on March 20, 1937, on a farm southwest of Wendell, MN, to Raymond and Bessie (Beech) Larson.
Marilyn was a dedicated and compassionate individual, who embarked on her professional journey immediately after graduating high school, beginning her career at a Dentistry Office in Fargo, ND. Her commitment to service continued as she worked at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls and later at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, retiring in 2002. After her retirement, Marilyn fulfilled a lifelong dream by building her home in Wendell, where she became an integral part of her community.
Marilyn's educational background laid a strong foundation for her career. She attended Country School in North Ottawa Township and graduated from Elbow Lake High School as part of the class of 1955. Furthering her education, she attended Fergus Falls Community College, training as a Respiratory Therapist, which equipped her with the skills to make a difference in the lives of many patients.
A devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wendell, Marilyn was known for her generosity of spirit and her deep connection to her faith. Her hobbies reflected her vibrant personality; she was not only an excellent cook and baker but also had a passion for jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and spending time in nature. Marilyn cherished her travels, with memorable trips to Ireland and England, as well as bus excursions to the Southeast, and developed a profound love for the Southwest. She delighted in gathering with friends on her porch in Wendell, sharing moments filled with laughter and camaraderie.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Jacqueline) Ricks of Orono, MN, and her brother, Larry (Elaine) Larson of Elbow Lake, MN. Marilyn's legacy also lives on through her seven grandchildren: Matthew, Aaron, Ryan, Johnathan, Samuel, Jack, and Grace, who will fondly remember her warmth and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Bessie Larson, her daughter, Joni Miller, son-in-law, Jay Miller, sister, Eileen Werner and brother-in-law, Earl Werner.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 7, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wendell.
Visitation starting at 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
Burial at Hereford Cemetery, rural Wendell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Grant County Humane Society in memory of Marilyn.
