Hoffman

Lorraine Eldora (Woessner) Gilbertson, 94, from Hoffman, MN, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. She was born on May 7th, 1927 to Edward and Suzie (Wagner) Woessner in Stony Brook Township and lived her life here in Grant County. Lorraine was baptized at Christ Lutheran in Pomme de Terre Township in the Lutheran faith on June 12, 1927 and confirmed on December 21, 1941.  She lived her life in service to the Lord.

At the age of 14 she moved from the family home and started working at the bakery in Elbow Lake.  She met Glen Gilbertson while he was enlisted in the military, courted, and were joined in marriage on June 24, 1947, which was the 23rd wedding anniversary of her parents.  At the time of her marriage, she was working at Hauge’s Hardware and Lumber. Glen and Lorraine lived in Elbow Lake until 1951 when they moved to Hoffman. Throughout their time together she supported Glen with his many businesses and worked alongside of him at the Hoffman Theater and Glenderosa. Lorraine also enjoyed being the local Avon lady which allowed her to make and visit friends throughout the area.

Lorraine raised four healthy children, nurtured many of her grandchildren, and even watched many of the local community kids. Her house, yard or garage always seemed to have a group of kids working on cars or playing.  She always had something cooking or baking in the kitchen and loved to make sure that no one went home hungry. Over the years she enjoyed many hobbies, but one of her favorites was fishing. She loved the peace and quiet of nature.  Her other hobbies included beautiful embroidery and putting puzzles together.

Lorraine took great pride in God and her Country. As a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and serving into her late 80’s on the church ladies aid at Zion Lutheran Church.

She had a tremendous passion for family and eagerly awaited visits from her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

She is survived by so many who loved her dearly.  Her sisters Evelyn Strand and Marilyn Eichhorn, her children Gary (Jessica) Gilbertson, Lynda Olson and Annette Gilbertson, her grandchildren Bradley (Maureen) Olson, Garrett Gilbertson, Brady (Michael) Martucci, Jennifer (Michael) Radke, Cary (Ryan) Lynch, Jamie Hoover and Anthony (Sarah) Gilbertson and 9 great grandchildren. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen, son Bryan Gilbertson and grandson Paul Gilbertson.
