Kurt Genz, 45, of Spicer, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 2, 2014, in Phoenix, Arizona. Kurt was born on September 10, 1968, in Stanley, Wisconsin. He attended Sleepy Eye High School where he played on the football, basketball and baseball teams. Kurt graduated in 1987. He then attended Southwest State University in Marshall, earning a degree in Business Management. He subsequently was employed by Hy-Vee in Marshall, Kid's Foot Locker, several Best Buy stores, and later joined the Best Buy Corporate Office. On June 21, 2013, he married Sandra and became the immediate loving dad of Easten, Peyton and Avery. Kurt was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and was a season ticket holder since the 1998 – 1999 season; he was passionate about tailgating, all sporting events, and attending his kids', nieces' and nephews' games. Kurt held his family and friends close, and they molded him into who he was. Kurt is survived by his wife Sandra; children Easten, Peyton, and Avery; father Martine Genz of Barrett; sisters Kim (Randy) Froemming of Barrett, Kristi (Tim) Luehmann of Minnetrista; nieces and nephews Sara Froemming, Corey (Casey) Froemming, Jennifer Froemming, Kyle Luehmann, Ashley Luehmann; great-niece Lexi Froemming; and all of his great friends . He is preceded in death by his mother Verlaine Genz. The family requests that you wear your favorite team attire when attending Kurt's service! Funeral Service: 11:00 am Saturday, Feb. 15, Church of Our Lady of the Lakes. Spicer Visitation: 5-8 pm Friday, Feb. 14, Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Spicer; one hour prior to service on Saturday morning at church
