Elbow Lake

John Ambro, 81 of Elbow Lake, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.

John Dennis Ambro was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 21, 1942, to Leonard & Jessie (Watkins) Ambro.   He grew up in St. Louis with his sister, Billie.  John was married twice, first wife Joanne who passed away in the 80’s, and second wife Beverly who passed away on November 3, 2014.   John has been engaged to Becky Peterson for the past six years.  He had no children of his own but was a natural father to Bev and Becky’s children who all loved him.  His 80th birthday, spent with his family, was the best day of his life.

John was known to always have candy in his pocket that he would give out to family, especially his grandkids.  He loved jelly donuts and would leave a voicemail to Becky’s daughter to get his beloved donuts in Alexandria.  He loved trains, fireworks, and games, especially Hand and Foot.  He was very sneaky, winning most of the games.  John enjoyed spending time with his niece, Donna, and going out to eat.  John loved the Lord and would send scripture verses to those he loved.  He wanted everyone to have Jesus in their heart.  John was a member of Grace Evangelical Free Church and enjoyed going to Bible study. He appreciated Jimmy Swaggart Ministry.
