Janet Holter

February 3, 1938 — June 3, 2012

Janet A. Holter, 74, of Pelican Lake, rural Ashby, died Sunday, June 3, 2012, at her home. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at the Bethlehem/West Elbow Lake Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake with the Rev. Scott Ruud officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church. Janet was born on February 3, 1938, in Bandon Oregon, to James E. Warde and Eunice Lenore Rose (Chirhart) Warde. Of all the children born on this earth that day the Lord made only one Janet Ann Warde. Janet moved to St Paul, Minnesota, in 1945 after her father's sudden death during a deer hunting accident. She later moved to Elbow Lake and attended a rural one room school. She said the 8th grade was a snap because she heard the same lessons 4 times. Janet graduated from Elbow Lake High School in 1956 and Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, in 1957. She worked as a medical laboratory technician in the Lowry Medical Arts Building in St Paul for four years. On June 6, 1959, Janet was gifted to Wesley K Holter. To this marriage three beautiful daughters were brought into this world: Janine, Kristin, and Kara. Janet and Wes moved their family to Lester Prairie, Minnesota, in 1970. She later worked at PolyFoam and retired in 2000. In 2005, Janet and Wes moved to Pelican Lake rural Ashby, Minnesota. There they treasured the lake atmosphere. Janet loved to read books and they were everywhere, in all rooms. She enjoyed and loved her family and friends, playing Scrabble, growing her garden, making Jelly with Wes, bird watching, and the lake place during retirement. She was very active with her women's Bible study groups. Her life was about others, not herself. She devoted herself to God and others selflessly. On Sunday, June 3, 2012, God called Janet home, cancelling all her pain and suffering from pancreatic cancer. Thanks be to God that she is now dancing in Heaven with butterflies and flowers. Janet is preceded in death by her father, James E Warde, stepfather Roland J Frarck, and her mother Eunice (Chirhart) (Warde) Frarck. Janet is survived by husband Wesley K Holter; daughter Janine Holter and her husband John Pususta of Montrose, Minnesota, daughter Kristin and her husband Thomas Oppold of Savage, Minnesota, and daughter Kara and her husband Scott Hutton of Orono, Minnesota. She is also survived by grandchildren Benjamin Oppold, Katherine Oppold, William Hutton and Alana Hutton. Janet is further survived by her siblings Marilee (David) Molina, Jean Ann Bellinger, James (Connie) Warde, Maureen (Terry) Volker, and Lorraine (Joseph) Tucker. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Interment will take place at Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lester Prairie, Minnesota, on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 11:00 am. A luncheon will be provided after the interment at: BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH 77 Lincoln Avenue Lester Prairie MN Memorials are preferred to the Bethlehem/West Elbow Lake Lutheran Church, Projection System, Douglas County Hospice, or Faith Lutheran Church Women's Bible Study in Evansville.
