James Satre

James Richard Satre, age 58 of Hoffman passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Jim was born June 30th, 1960 to Ellsworth and Lorna (Fiebelkorn) Satre in Morris, MN.   He was a lifelong resident of Hoffman, MN, currently residing on the Satre homestead of rural Hoffman.

After graduating from Hoffman High School, he worked part time for Kiehne Construction.   Jim started working at the Hoffman Locker plant at the age of 16 as a meat cutter and worked alongside his brothers.   He also operated his own lawn mowing and snow removal service with his brother Tom.

Jim’s greatest love was hunting and fishing.  He couldn’t wait for deer hunting and was always relating his hunting stories.   He passed his love of hunting, and his hunting skills, onto his nieces and nephews and took them on many of their first hunting excursions.   He planned out every deer hunting and fishing trip with great detail.    He also loved to play a good game of cards or darts.

Jim is survived by his son, Dustin (Rachel) Gulbrandson and grandchildren Eric and Emma of Hoffman;  special friend Tammy Zietlow of Hoffman; brothers, Dennis Satre, Gerald (Laurie) Satre, and Thomas Satre all of Hoffman;  sisters, Diane Corey, Herman, Susan (Armand) Gylsen of St. Louis Park, Marcia (Danny) Wilson of Boonville, IN, Mary Satre of St. Louis Park, Barb (Bill) Keep of Hoffman, and Debra Satre of Bemidji;  nieces and nephews,  Michelle (Bruce) Sperr, Michael (Peggy) Corey, Becky (Brent) Bennett,  Jessica Oberg,  Angie (Troy) DeJong, Nathan (Jessica) Gylsen, Dawn Wilson, Jennifer (Mike) Allison, Adrienne (Brad) Cihlar, Megan (Joe) Lustila, Matthew Mutchler, Brandon Mutchler, Nicholas Mutchler, Ashley Satre, Josh (Kayla) Satre, and Lindsey (Ben) Meyer; many great nieces and nephews; two aunts and one uncle, as well as many cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Milton Corey, and niece Kimberly Wilson.

Memorial Service: 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Hoffman, MN

Visitation: 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM prior to the service
