Irene (Mrs. James) Endreson, age 84, of Erdahl, passed away at the Good Samaritan Society of Hoffman on Saturday, October 24, 2009. Services for Irene Endreson will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at Peace Lutheran Church in Ashby with Rev. Carol Olson officiating. Burial will be in the Erdahl Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is from 6-8 pm Monday, October 26, at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake, with a prayer service at 7:30 pm and will resume one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Memorials are preferred to the Luther Crest Bible Camp, 8231 County Road 11 NE, Alexandria, 56308.
Irene Clare Endreson was born in Charbonneau, North Dakota, on August 16, 1925, to Edward and Thora (Hanson) Olson. She was baptized at Bethel Lutheran Church in Cartwright, North Dakota, and confirmed at Erdahl Lutheran Church in Erdahl, Minnesota. Irene attended School District 44 and Evansville High School. She worked for a brief time in Minneapolis before moving to Twin Falls Idaho, where she worked as a telephone switchboard operator; she was later transferred to Fargo, North Dakota. On October 17, 1948, Irene was united in marriage to James Endreson at Erdahl Lutheran Church. The couple lived and farmed in Erdahl Township and raised their seven children. They were members of the Erdahl Lutheran Church where Irene was active in the Ladies Aid, as well as working as custodian and groundskeeper. When the church closed, they tranferred to Peace Lutheran Church in Ashby. Irene loved the outdoors, gardening, quilting, crafts, and scrap booking. She was only recently admitted to the Good Samaritan Society in Hoffman. Irene is survived by her husband James of Erdahl; sons Steven (Kathy) of Dalton, Harlan (Valerie) of Wasilla, Alaska, Michael (Sonja) of Montrose, Colorado, Mark of Elbow Lake, and Darwin (Dawn) of Coon Rapids; daughters Sonja Velez of Farmington and Madeline (Mike) Anderson of Barrett; grandchildren Tony (Anne) Endreson, Dan (Stacie) Endreson, Matt (Megan) Endreson, Jason (Kimberley) Endreson, Emily (Paul) McGee, Kristel (Shane) Olson, Marcia Gilcrest, David (Chris) Dittrich, Christopher (Kyna) Endreson. Benjamin (Melissa) Endreson, Nicolas Endreson, Caleb Endreson, Taylor and Megan Endreson, Ryan and Cody Endreson; nine great-grandchildren, and three step-great grandchildren; a brother, Vernon "Bing" (Bernice) Olson of Ashby; sisters Marian Reine of Evansville, Pearl Sande of Twin Falls Idaho, and Gloria Rezac of Breckenridge. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Thora Olson, two infant brothers, and three sisters, Devona Olson, Edith Cunningham, and Lillian Lindquist.
