Helen Miller, age 92, formerly of Elbow Lake, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at the Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater. Funeral services for Helen Miller will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 9, at St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Elbow Lake. Burial will be in St. Loretto's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services on Monday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Crosswood Group Home in Barrett or Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud. Helen was born on February 9, 1916, in Searsboro, Iowa, to Thomas and Roxie (Vincent) Sheehy. She was baptized at the Catholic Church in Searsboro. Helen grew up on a farm near Wendell, Minnesota, and graduated from the Fergus Falls High School in 1933. She continued her education at the Park Region College in Fergus Falls and earned her teaching certificate. On June 6, 1936, Helen was united in marriage to Ivan Glen Miller at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Brandon. Helen was a long time member of St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Elbow Lake, Christian Mothers, and served on the board of the Grant County DAC from 1978-1990. She liked to read and was devoted to her family. Helen is survived by her daughter Carolyn Miller, Barrett, and son Larry (Bettie) Miller, Stillwater; two grandchildren, Julie (Jason) Roettger of Stillwater and Thomas (Maura) Miller of New York City, New York, and four great-grandchildren, Mark, Erik and Anya Roettger and Declan Miller. Other survivors include her sisters Dorothy Sand of Barrett and Ruth (Albert) Beckman of Fergus Falls, brother Gene Sheehy of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and one sister-in-law, Marlys Sheehy of Panama City, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Roxie Sheehy, her husband Ivan Miller, and two brothers, Edward and Thomas G. Sheehy.
