Emery Larson

Emery Wayne Larson, 62, of Brandon, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family, pastor, and hospice nurse. He was born on August 21, 1952 in Parkers Prairie, MN, the son of Orrin and Harriet (Burkey) Larson. He was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Miltona and later confirmed in Solem Lutheran Church. After graduating from Kensington High School, he joined the United States Marines in June of 1970 in California and served during the Vietnam War in Okinawa and Iwakuni, Japan. He was honorably discharged in February of 1972. He then attended Alexandria Technical College for welding and later for sales and marketing. On September 7, 1974, Emery married Sandra Turnau and they were blessed with three children. Emery worked for Surge Dairy Supply, owned a white wash business, was employed with Continental Bridge, worked as a farm hand for Marvin Jensen, and Riley Brothers Construction. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, project building, gardening, vintage cars, and fellowship with family and friends. He was a member of the Vintage Car Club, Army National Guard, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion, West Moe and Solem Lutheran Churches. Emery is survived by his wife, Sandra of Brandon; three children, Heidi (Josh) Beissel of Sauk Centre, Sara (Justin) Godfrey of Alexandria, and Adam Larson (special friend, Nycci Marquez) of Columbia Heights, MN; seven grandchildren; brother, Willys of Brandon; and two sisters, Rose Ann (Steve) Hartjen of Sierra Vista, AZ and Vera (Randy) Carlson of Fergus Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Delmer. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Visitation: 5 – 7 PM Thursday, with a 6 PM Prayer Service, at Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Hoffman, and one hour prior to services at the church.
