March 15, 1925 — August 6, 2014

Doris N. Ehlers was born March 15, 1925 to Maynard & Selma (Waugh) Mickelson in Sanford Township of Grant County, Minnesota. Doris was baptized at the Erdahl Lutheran Church by Reverend Troen and confirmed by Reverend O.G. Aasen at the Ness Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake. After graduation she went on to business school in Minneapolis. After seven months she accepted a job at the Fergus Falls National Bank in Fergus Falls, MN. On January 30, 1946 Doris met her husband, Arnold at the Roosevelt Ball held at the Schofield Community Building in Elbow Lake. They were married October 26, 1946 at Ness Lutheran Church. After their marriage they lived a year in Minot, North Dakota, returning to Elbow Lake to the farm that Arnold's grandparents homesteaded. They lived there for 31 years and during those years she helped with the farming operation. As their three children were growing up, she taught Sunday school, belonged to Band Boosters Club and she and her husband attended the musical events, football and basketball games their children were in. She also belonged to the Homemakers Club, ULCW and Circle at United Lutheran Church. Doris loved music, enjoyed visiting with friends, playing whist, cribbage and pinochle. She and Arnold spent 18 winters in Arizona. Doris was a gentle soul who brought beauty and strength to those she touched. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. "Her children will rise up and call her blessed." Proverbs 31:28 Surrounded by her family, Doris died Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the age of 89 years.
