Diana Joan Aanenson was born on June 30, 1946, in Alexandria, Minnesota, the daughter of Norma (Hanson) and Alvin Aanenson. She was baptized and confirmed at Solem Church in rural Kensington. She graduated in 1966 from the Kensington High School. After graduation, she lived in Alexandria for her entire adult life. She worked at Bethany Nursing Home, Maid Rite, and McDonald’s. In 2019, she moved into Knute Nelson.
Diana enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and going to bingo. She loved cats, especially her cat, Daisy. She always made the best flat bread for family gatherings.
Diana died on Monday, July 24, 2023, peacefully at Knute Nelson. She is survived by her sister, Dawn Johnson, and her brothers, Douglas Aanenson, Danny (Ginny) Aanenson, David Aanenson, and Dean (Michelle) Aanenson. She is also survived by 6 nieces, and 1 nephew: Becky (DuWayne) Douvier, Adrianne (Erick) Stark, Samantha Johnson, Jessica Mohagen, Annika Aanenson, Marisa Aanenson, and Zachary Aanenson; and 2 great-nieces, and 4 great-nephews: D. J. Douvier, Dilyn Douvier, Molly Douvier, Claire Stark, Evan Mohagen, and Carter Mohagen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and her baby brother, Donald, and many aunts and uncles.
A celebration of life will be held on August 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Hoffman, Minnesota.
Honorary Urn bearers are her nieces, nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews.
