Dean Norris Travland

Dean Norris Travland passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, at Westwind Village Senior Living. Dean was born July 26, 1939, in Morris, Minnesota, and lived a life defined by diligence, curiosity, and genuine community engagement.

Dean’s early years were spent in the close-knit towns of western Minnesota, where he cultivated a passion for agriculture and local affairs. He graduated from Hoffman High School and continued his education at the U of M, earning a degree in Agriculture. His academic achievements reflected a lifelong commitment to learning and set the stage for a successful professional journey.

After years of running the family farm, Dean embarked on a career in over the road trucking, a profession that allowed him to traverse the country while retaining deep roots in the communities he called home. Through his work, Dean earned the respect of peers and was known for his reliability and hard-working ethos.

Beyond his career, Dean remained actively engaged with the world around him. Politics and current events were among his keenest interests; he avidly read many newspapers and was perpetually well-informed about developments in his local communities. Dean’s insights—often shared over spirited games of cards—reflected not only his intelligence but his dedication to civic life and thoughtful conversation.

In his later years, Dean found both companionship and comfort at Westwind Village Senior Living, where his unmistakable wit was warmly appreciated by the nursing staff, leaving a memorable impression on all who knew him.

Dean is survived by many cousins and friends whose presence have been a constant support. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph; his mother, Edna; and his brother, Alton.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Hoffman with a visitation one hour prior.

Interment at Lands Cemetery in Hoffman.
