Carol Sylskar

Carol Jean Sylskar, 51, passed away on Friday March 21, 2014, the result of a bacterial staph infection, at the St. Cloud Hospital while surrounded by her family. Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Hoffman, with Pastor Nathan Thompson officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-7 pm at Messiah Lutheran Church and will resume at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Carol was born on February 4, 1963, in Alexandria, Minnesota, to Lloyd and Muriel (Olson) Christopherson. She grew up in Hoffman and graduated in 1981 from Hoffman High School. She attended beauty school in Fergus Falls and eventually owned and operated C.J's Beauty Boutique in Hoffman, which led to her meeting Brian Sylskar. The couple married on September 3, 1988, at Lands Lutheran Church in Hoffman. Together they have two children, Landon and Blair, and two special dogs, Hunter and Cuddles. Carol was the head cook at the Cyrus school for fourteen years. She truly enjoyed and valued the lifelong friendships she made in Cyrus. Carol loved being a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church Choir where she shared her musical passion and talents. Carol began singing at the age of three, and she never stopped. Carol loved meeting people and formed many very close friendships that lasted a lifetime. She was a social person, always willing to help and care for anyone. She was quick to share a smile and her wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed dancing the night away, especially for the past twenty five years with her "Meckfest" friends. Carol loved her family very much. Carol was preceded in death by her mother Muriel; one sister, Corlys; her brother-in-law Darwin Sylskar and her fathers-in-law Bill and Carl. She is survived by Brian, her husband of the past twenty five years; son Landon and daughter Blair; father Lloyd Christopherson; three sisters, Connie (Garb) Hohn of Benson, Charla (Wayne) Hagen of Spencer, Wisconsin, and Candyce De Noble of Hoffman; brother-in-law David De Noble of Hoffman; mother-in-law Rose Wilson of Hoffman; brothers-in-law Robert (Nicole) and Jeff Sylskar, and her sister-in-law Denise; nieces and nephews; the Dalums and the Meckfest Family. Memorial Service: 11:00 am Wednesday, Mar. 26, 2014, Messiah Lutheran Church, Hoffman Clergy: Pastor Nathan Thompson Visitation: 5-7 Tuesday at Messiah Lutheran Church; one hour prior to service on Wednesday at Church Memorials are preferred to the Family of Carol Sylskar.
