Bonnie Pikop

June 17, 1936 — July 8, 2017

Bonnie Pikop, 81 of Elbow Lake died Saturday, July8, 2017, at the Barrett Care Center.

Bonita Jean Pikop was born on June 17, 1936, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota the daughter of Clarence and Alvina (Bremmer) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian Faith. Bonnie attended Country School at the end of their driveway and then graduated from the Fergus Falls High School.

Bonnie and Dwaine Keith Pikop were married on December 17, 1955. She was a homemaker, until she took a job as church secretary for United Lutheran Church in 1968, where she cherished the wisdom of the elderly and loved the energy and innocents of the children. In 1992, she started working at the hospital, greeting and comforting the sick. Bonnie was a member of United Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, belonged to the Home Makers and Ladies Aid. She enjoyed making and serving friends and families their favorite foods, and loved to read recipe books and make new dishes.

She is survived by her husband, Dwaine; three children, Kim Juergens, Kurt (Lisa) Pikop and Kari (Tom) Krusemark all of Elbow Lake; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Jay (Brittney) Juergens and Evelyn of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, Estee (Jake) Krisik and Suri of Minneapolis, Liza (Matt) Long, Landon, Logon and Layla of Hoffman, Katy Pikop of Jersey City, NJ, Megan (Dillon) Nelson, Riley and Hunter of East Grand Forks, MN, Jonathan (Angie) Pikop of Elbow Lake, Hope (Tanner) Schmidt and Tucker of Moorhead and Abby Krusemark of Moorhead; sister, Darlene Stenstrom of Minneapolis; brother, Donald (Jan) Nelson of Fergus Falls; and by numerous relatives and friends. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Alvina Nelson; two brothers-in-law, Art Stenstrom and Jerome Ricks; and sister-in-law, Diane Aske (Pikop).

Celebration of Life: 2:00 PM, Friday, July 14, 2017, at the United Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Elbow Lake.

Interment: Ness Cemetery at a later date
