Bennie Hotvedt, 87, of Farmington, MN, formerly of Kensington, died January 29, 2013, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Clergy: Rev. Nathan Thompson Visitation: One hour prior to services Funeral Service: 12 PM Friday, February 8, 2013, at Erickson-Smith Funeral Home, Hoffman Bennie was born on February 8, 1925, in rural Douglas County near Kensington. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Hoffman and attended Country School through the eighth grade. On September 15, 1944, he entered the U.S. Army, serving overseas during WW II, and was discharged on November 25, 1946. Bennie worked several construction jobs, including working for S.J. Groves and Sons. He retired from the City of Rosemount in 1987. He was a lifetime member of the Rosemount American Legion and a lifetime member of the Lakeville VFW. Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lizzie Hotvedt; brothers Howard, Kenneth, Harlan, and Orren; and sisters Ethel Thue and Anna Mae Laager. Survivors include one sister, Edith Hedstrom of Farmington (formerly Hoffman) and one brother, Merlyn (Catherine) Hotvedt of Plymouth; children, grandchildren, one great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
