Beatrice Hansen

January 6, 1941 — April 30, 2014

Beatrice Hansen died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, after a short illness, reaching the age of 73. The funeral service for Beatrice Hansen will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 5, 2014, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Barrett, with the Rev. Matthew Rose officiating. Burial will be in the Lincoln Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hoffman. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Bea was born January 6, 1941, to Alexander (Ole) and Ella (Uphoff) Hansen. She was born with Down's syndrome, and the doctors said she'd never reach the age of 12.

Her child-like faith was an inspiration to all. She loved being "auntie" and everyone got hugs and kisses from her. Her most favorite thing in the world was fried chicken and Elvis. She visited Graceland a couple times and had quite a collection of anything pertaining to Elvis. She is survived by her sisters Marge Perko of Minneapolis, Betty Hagen of Hoffman and Shirley Thom of Sioux Falls, and brothers Oliver (Det) Hansen of Elbow Lake and Edward (LaVonne) Hansen of Nelson. Other survivors include many nieces and nephews and her special friends Shirley and Carolyn. Bea was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Harold Hafsohl and Richard and Henry Hansen. Blessed be the memory of Bea Hansen.
