Albert Ostenson

Albert Ostenson, 98, of Barrett, died Sunday, September 27, 2015, at the Barrett Care Center. Albert Gerhard Ostenson was born on August 23, 1917, at home in Sanford Township, rural Elbow Lake, Minnesota, the son of Oscar and Caroline (Thompson) Ostenson. He was baptized and confirmed in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Barrett and attended Rural School District #48 through the eighth grade. On May 29, 1943, Albert was married to Ruby Olson. They had two sons, Larry and Douglas. Albert enjoyed farming, and Ruby was an active partner. He had a great sense of humor. Albert enjoyed sitting down for coffee and visiting. Albert had a good memory, and when something was in question, they would ask Albert. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage, speaking, and reading. At his last birthday he sang two Norwegian songs, one being The Lord's Prayer. Albert was the oldest active member of Peace Lutheran Church.

Albert is survived by one son, Douglas of Barrett; and by numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Caroline Ostenson; wife, Ruby on March 2, 2003; son, Larry on September 27, 1970; two brothers, Tilmer and Walter Ostenson; and by four sisters, Beatrice Johnson, Lillian Paulson, Harriet Lehman and Clarice Ostenson.

Visitation: 4PM to 7PM, Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service.
