Phyllis Frikken, age 85 of Elbow Lake died Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Stevens' Homes Plus of rural Barrett, Minnesota.
Phyllis Ann Frikken was born on June 21, 1931, in Long Prairie, Minnesota the daughter of Henry and Florence (Dinkel) Brever. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Mary of Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie, graduated from the Long Prairie High School in 1949, and then furthered her education graduating from the Little Falls Beauty School. She was employed with O'Mearas Beauty Salon in Fergus Falls.
Phyllis and Louis Frikken were married on October 13, 1951. She raised her family and in 1969, became a Nurses Aid with the Grant County Hospital where she was trained by the doctors and nurses, and after thirty years retired in 1999. She was an active member of St. Olaf Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. Phyllis enjoyed playing cards and games, especially Old Maid with the grandkids, reading, Word Search, flowers, coffee and visiting. She especially enjoyed her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, William Frikken of Belgrade, Tom (Susan) Frikken of Benson, Marsha Frikken of Elbow Lake and Lisa (Thomas Ritten) Swift of Alexandria; seven grandchildren and families, Jill (Paul) Lenzmeier, Brayden and Brenna, Brent (Katie) Frikken, Kylah and Bryce, Tara (Noah) Werner, Teigan and Lane, Jennifer (Ben) Kavanagh, Reese, Keely and Elise, Jon (Jessie) Frikken, Erika (Jared) Smith, Ellie and Beckett and Cody Swift; two sisters, Betty (Bill) Coons of Rochester and Linda Heid of Fridley; and by numerous relatives and friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis Frikken on December 21, 1988; daughter-in-law, Laurie Frikken; two sisters, Kathy Bluhm and Marlene Brever; and by two brothers, Jimmy and Jack Brever.
Memorial Mass: 11:00 AM, Friday, May 19, 2017, at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Elbow Lake.
Visitation: one hour prior at the church
