Norman Rustand

Norman Rustand, age 88, formerly of Wendell, passed away February 10, 2017 at Ecumen Bethany Home in Alexandria, MN. Norman Odell Rustand was born March 16, 1928 to Mads and Ottina (Dybdal) Rustand in North Ottawa Township. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wendell. Norman was united in marriage to Janice Miller on June 29, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church, by Reverend T. G. Thompson. After their marriage, they moved to the farm in North Ottawa Township where they raised their family and farmed grain and raised livestock. Following Janice's death in 2005, Norman moved to Elbow Lake, and then to Alexandria. Norman was a member of the Odd Fellows and a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping, and cherished his time with family, especially the grandchildren. Norman is survived by children, Jeffrey Rustand of Alexandria, Tamara Rustand of Bemidji, Susan (David) Burggraff of Sartell, Rebecca (Doug) Fure of Walker and Glen (Maggie) Rustand of Alexandria; 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Patricia Linnes of Albert Lee, Jean Blasing of Wheaton, and Carol (Robert) Richards of Herman. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janice; 4 sisters, Glenice Bratlie, Lorraine Wikholm, Alberta Nelson, Anna May Haley and 2 brothers, Clifton and Gordon; and son-in-law, William Olson. Funeral Service: 11AM Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wendell with visitation one hour prior to the service.
