Ellerd O. Larson, age 87 of Hoffman, passed away, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Barrett Care Center.
Ellerd Otilian Larson was born November 20, 1929 to Albert and Otilia (Olson) Larson in Roseville Township, Grant County, MN. He grew up in Roseville Township and attended country school at District 20. He lived with his grandmother and aunt and uncle in his early years. After his uncle Leslie married, he lived with them until 1962. He lived on various farms until 1969. He then moved to a house in Hoffman.
Ellerd was employed at the Hoffman elevator and at the school in Hoffman and did carpentry work. In 1992, he fell and broke his neck, and as a result was limited in what he could do. In 2009, he became a resident of the Good Samaritan in Hoffman until it closed in 2013. He then became a resident at the Barrett Care Center. Ellerd enjoyed playing the accordion and listening to old time music. His memory was phenomenal and he enjoyed trivia. He also enjoyed traveling.
Ellerd is survived by his sister, Ester Tharaldson of Starbuck; brothers, Harold Willhite of Glendale, AZ, and Duane (Pat) Larson of Venice, FL; two sisters-in-law, Patty Larson of Alexandria and Arlene Willhite of Rialto, CA; special cousins, Lynn (Kathy) Olson and Marcia (Glenn) Hoffman, as well as several nieces and nephews, and cousins by the dozens.
Ellerd is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Florence Hennen, Fern Thompson, Dorothy Jacobson and Grace Peterson; six brothers, Leo Willhite, Leonard Willhite, Merle Willhite, Don Willhite, Ed Larson and Earl Larson and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Funeral Services: 2:00PM Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Hoffman with visitation one hour prior to the service
